Applicant Family Submits completed application for submission to Our Children’s Homestead (OCH) with appropriate fee.
Adoption Process
The potential adoption process has many steps, events and interactions which OCH is required to coordinate manage and monitor, including but not limited to the following:
Execute OCH Home study, which meets and exceeds DCFS minimum requirements. This is a combination of onsite home visits, phone and office interactions, background checks including finger printing and references.
Home Study Fee (Non-Refundable): $1,750.00
Complete Illinois State Licensing process:
Licensing Fee: $500.00
Referrals will be submitted by your Adoption Coordinator for enrollment in the following DCFS required classes:
Total Program Fee: $4,250.00
Pre-Adoption Counseling Services will be conducted by your OCH adoption coordinator.
Qualified “special needs” adoption counselors and/or therapists will also be provided as needed. This includes but is not limited to:
1st half due upon completion of home study and licensing process: $2,125.00
OCH Transition Counseling:
This process occurs once a child is matched with a family and transitional visits and contacts begin to take place. Visit coordination/assistance and monitoring takes place with the family. The OCH worker will also make assessments of any services that will be needed for the child once the child is permanently moved. Therapeutic services are available through the OCH clinical department.
2nd half due once family has been matched with identified child(ren): $2,125.00
Pre-Adoption Monitoring Visits:
This process occurs when a child or children are placed in the home prior to the adoption finalization and during the transition stage. Illinois policy requires a six month period after the child/children are placed, to monitor the placement. Monthly home visits and continued counseling will take place during this time. This (6) month waiting period is a requirement of DCFS.
Total Program Cost: $6,750.00
Additional Comments:
Post Adoptive counseling and therapy is available through Our Children’s Homestead if requested. Additional fees would be determined on the individual case needs. If after a period of a year a match has not occurred, an additional administrative fee of 20% of the program fee will be processed to cover the costs incurred to continue the adoption process. Adoption Attorney fees and all travel expenses are the responsibility of the adoptive family.
